What is PCNALocator (PCNAL)?
PCNAL is a Porsche locator program for millennial GT and Turbo models initially sold in North America. It is operated by Concours By Appointment LLC (CBA) a bonded and licensed auto brokerage specialist. PCNAL is not affiliated with Porsche Cars North America, Inc. or Porsche AG.
How does it work?
We are engaged to locate one or more vehicles which can be identified using our Configurator app. Once target vehicles are identified using the Configurator we locate the vehicles and their owners to negotiate a purchase transaction.
What is the Configurator app and how do I use it?
The Configurator app is the window into our proprietary database. It is an intuitive step through search tool that uses a subset of parameters to identify actual production vehicles initially sold in North America. This software sorts through our entire database of 17,500+ Porsche VIN’s, in real-time, to generate a list of specific vehicles matching user defined parameters. Once satisfied with a selection of matches users can submit to receive detailed build summaries of the individual vehicle’s included in the search results.
Which vehicles do you locate?
We locate the following Porsche models classified based on production volume and rarity:
– 997.1 Turbo, 997.2 Turbo, 997.1 GT3, 997.2 GT3
– 997.1 GT3 RS (3.6), 997.2 GT3 RS (3.8), 997 GT2, 997 Turbo S, 997 Speedster, 991.1 GT3 RS
– all Paint to Sample, 980 Carrera GT, 997.2 GT3 RS (4.0), 997 GT2 RS, 918 Spyder, 991 911 R
How do I know what to search for?
The data section of our website contains the world’s most comprehensive collection of millennial Porsche information publicly available from a single source. There can be found, listed by model and year, standard and optional specifications and their descriptions, actual production interior and exterior colors, and full production summaries. We are proud to say that everyone from novice enthusiasts to subject matter experts use our data as educational and reference material. We are the open source for Porsche data.
How do I become a client?
If you have used the Configurator app and have submitted to receive detailed vehicle descriptions via email you are already a Subscriber. But to obtain the full benefit of what we have to offer contact us to become a Client. There is no obligation and no cost. Once your status updates to Client you will receive additional privileges to view a larger number of vehicles and to obtain more detailed information on vehicle specifics. You will also become eligible to receive vehicle offers from qualified sellers for review and consideration – we do not publicly publish these offers so becoming a Client is the only way to see them!
Do you purchase vehicles?
Although we contractually function as a purchase intermediary we do not purchase vehicles for inventory. We operate as a match-maker only. We do not compete with our clients for vehicles and we never step in front of a client on a transaction. Unlike traditional dealers we do not take title to vehicles.
How can I be sure that the price I am paying is going to the seller?
On the close of a purchase transaction the seller will provide a vehicle title with pricing paid stated and/or a bill of sale indicating the price they were paid by CBA. That amount will match the purchase price paid by the buyer.
Once you locate a vehicle what happens?
We verify certain minimum information regarding the vehicle, including current mileage and condition. We also determine if the owner is interested in entertaining an offer for their vehicle. If they are interested we will enter into simultaneous contracts with the seller and buyer whereby each will commit to a negotiation process to close a purchase transaction. If the buyer and seller come to mutually satisfactory terms then a purchase transaction is consummated.
When does the seller get paid, how do I get the vehicle title and the vehicle?
Once a price is mutually agreed, and the buyer is satisfied with the vehicle’s condition and documentation, purchase monies are transferred to CBA by the buyer. Upon proof of good funds to seller, CBA obtains the fully executed, free and clear, good title to the vehicle from the seller. Upon CBA’s receipt of good title, purchase funds are transferred to the seller to close the transaction and the vehicle title is forwarded to the buyer. The buyer will then be connected with the seller to arrange vehicle transport logistics.
Can I have a prepurchase inspection?
Yes. CBA can arrange for a pre-purchase inspection at the buyer’s expense using its own personnel or a third party independent (such as an authorized Porsche dealer). Inspection will typically include photos, a paint meter chart and a mechanical check (ECU scan if applicable). Generally most any requirement can be accommodated if agreeable to the seller.
What does the service cost?
CBA charges a nominal fee to cover the costs of locating vehicles and contacting owners. If a transaction is consummated CBA charges a pre-agreed fixed commission to buyers. Sellers never pay a fee for PCNAL services. Our commission rates are below industry standards and well below auto dealer markups on similar vehicles, in particular dealer markups on inventory.
Why no fees to sellers?
We are a locator service soliciting vehicles from owners. Asking owners to pay if they agree to sell adds a significant impediment to closing an acquisition for qualified buyers. Buyers understand that by having transaction commissions known upfront they can factor this into their cost analysis and level the playing field by adjusting their purchase price offer.
Why don’t you provide VIN information?
There are several reason we do not provide Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN’s) first and foremost of which is protecting the privacy of owner identities and vehicle locations. Legal and commercial data services also place restrictions on the disclosure of VIN related information which in turn limits CBA’s ability to share this information until a purchase transaction closes. Seller’s also may require that their vehicle not be ‘shopped’ in the traditional sense. Since vehicles are not identified by VIN in the PCNAL system, even if a vehicle is widely offered to our client base, by design it cannot be ‘shopped’ (as that process is commonly understood) because it cannot be individually identified. Finally, VIN’s and associated data including owner information are the proprietary property of CBA and our stock in trade. Unintentional exposure of this data would benefit buyers unrelated to CBA – to the detriment of our client’s ability to obtain the vehicles they want – which is always our first priority. Qualified buyers will always know the VIN and have access to VIN related documentation at the appropriate time prior to purchase.
Why are owner identities hidden?
We have a strong reputation for protecting owner privacy. Privacy is an important part of what owners require to maintain confidence that will not be inundated by unwanted solicitation from dealers, brokers and prospective buyers as a result of participating in the PCNAL program. We are highly respected for using formulated policies and procedures designed to protect owners from unwanted solicitation and work to maintain 100% anonymity.
